Hi! Iām Chris and welcome to my psychotherapy practice.
I am an experienced Art Psychotherapist, trauma therapist and clinical supervisor with a background in NHS forensic services and private addiction treatment. I work with individuals who are managing a range of issues. These include; trauma, loss, addiction, burnout, attachment issues, self esteem issues or other long-standing emotional patterns that no longer respond to insight or willpower alone.
My approach integrates EMDR, Attachment Informed EMDR, Lifespan Integration and arts-based psychotherapy - allowing us to work at both the cognitive and nervous system levels. This supports deep, contained and lasting change rather than short-term coping strategies.
I am accustomed to working with complex and sensitive material, and I offer therapy that is discreet, structured and psychologically robust.
I offer a limited number of private therapy spaces.
Why arts based?
Many clients have reported the enormous benefits of being able to discover hidden thoughts and feelings via the fusion of creativity with psychodynamic processes. There is no prior experience or skill in art needed to benefit. Sometimes the less experience of the arts you have, the more powerful your experience of Art psychotherapy can be.
Why is trauma relevant?
Most experiences of anxiety, numbness, addiction, low self esteem and depression can be traced back to the often forgotten experiences of trauma. Traumatic experience can be very subtle. For example, there might be unconscious attachment trauma from early childhood or later more conscious experiences of bullying and abuse.
What else do I offer?
I offer one on one and group clinical supervision to Psychotherapists and other professionals in the helping professions. I provide reflective practice and I facilitate arts based stress and trauma process groups for organisations.
